Editorial Policy

Medically reviewed by Dr. Matt DeGaetano

This research section is published by Axon Medical Centers. We state that plainly because trustworthy health information starts with knowing who is speaking.

How this content is produced.

Every page is written from published, publicly verifiable sources: peer-reviewed journals, federal regulatory documents, and reports of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine. Every factual claim carries a citation to the research library, where each source is listed with a plain-language note on what it found and what it does not establish.

What we will not publish.

We do not publish claims without a public source. We do not publish statistics we cannot trace to a study. We do not describe any test as diagnosing brain injury on its own, because none does. We do not publish confidential research data or patient information in any form.

Medical review.

Each page is reviewed for clinical accuracy before publication and after material updates. The reviewing clinician and review date appear on each page.

Updates.

The research library is reviewed quarterly. When new research changes what a page should say, the page changes, and the update is noted.

Independence of care decisions.

Nothing on this site is medical advice for an individual. Evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment decisions happen between a patient and their physician, and treatment is always the patient's decision.
