How programs are built
Rehabilitation begins with a functional assessment that establishes a baseline. From that baseline, the care team sets specific, measurable goals with the patient, whether that is returning to work, lifting a child, driving comfortably, or getting through a day without a flare of pain. Programs are re-measured at intervals, and the plan changes when the measurements say it should: progressed when the patient is ready, adjusted when a component is not working, and concluded when goals are met.
What rehabilitation includes
Therapeutic exercise and progressive strengthening, manual therapy where indicated, vestibular and balance rehabilitation for patients with dizziness or instability after head injury, activity and work-conditioning programs, and education that lets patients continue their progress at home.
Discharge is a goal, not an afterthought
A rehabilitation program that never ends is not a program. Every plan defines what finished looks like, and patients graduate when they get there.
